Can't your test WebDAV over Wifi? You can use e.g. BarracudaDrive on Windows as a server.

And what speed do you get with FTP?

FTP speed is fine, as fast as airdroid ( 2.8MB/s - 3.5MB/s )

I see - so theoretically, a better speed should be possible...

I've tried 3 or 4 most popular file manager at market, and all of them work at slow speed.
Then it will probably not be faster with TC either. All Androids apps offering SMB connections (including TC) seem to be using the same library jcifs.
Sorry for asking, but what other alternatives that do not have this limitation do we have? Any examples please?

I spent the better part of last evening trying to figure this out and also try out other smb-capable filemanager on my android tablet. :?

Never mind. I installed proftpd on my samba-server and then added the ftp-plugin to Total Commander.

I now get about 20-25 Mbps on my 802.11N wifi downstream to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.2.

A little low, but still more than double the rate I had with the LAN-plugin earlier.

I'll try out my Galaxy S2 and see if this one is able to sustain a higher rate than the tablet.

In any case; Thanks for providing Total Commander to us!

Is this the speed you'd expect on an android-device using FTP?

On another side note, downloading to the tablet using the LAN-plugin I get some 20-30 Mbps, while uploading from tablet to the same samba server I get about 600-700 kbps.
