Space is allowed symbol in names so TC can't know if you do a mistake or really want to insert space in a name. Anyway, it is definitely not a bug.

Which old version do you mean? I tested it with TC 7.04a, it behaves exactly like TC 8.01.

Yes, a space in front of the name is allowed, so TC doesn't remove it.

There are two possible solutions.

1. Do not type a space when creating file names.

or

2. Change your display options. To do this:
* Click on "Configuration" in the menu bar
* Choose "Options..."
* Choose "Display"
* Change "Sort method" to "Natural sorting: by character"
You may have to experiment by trying the other sort methods, depending on your language and desired results.
