LOL: System information bug
I have Athlon XP 2600+, but in system information window tcmd says: Pentium Model 10 Stepping 0.....
The same joke---
2theQUE
Hello !
• The same joke at home for a 2-CPU - Athlon 2000+ MP...
• TC doesn't know that AMD™ exists... But yet, my processors are alright recognized by Win XP-Pro...
- Certainly a bug to fix, since the infos are available in Windows...
Kind regards,
Claude

Difficult?
2IGL
Hello Chris ,
• Is it dificult to get the infos from "My Computer">> Properties sheet - it's the default first page "General" - ?
... while we have the TC- sounds in the Windows-sounds setting (more complicated, isn't it? I never saw that for any other program!).
• It's just a question, of course...
• A workaround should be to add a button on the TC box to open this Win property-sheet... ???
- This is not an important issue for us who know the high quality of TC, but this could look fancy for candidate-users giving just a try...
Friendly regards,
Claude
Clo

2CLo - Hi - how are you doing.
2All
I am just guessing that TC uses assembler code, that is possible but I might be wrong. Talking about extracting data from "My Computer">> Properties sheet - tab "General" - human can read it, but I am not sure if TC can do that - I mean I do not know it this window allows other programs to extract/import information from it - especially if there are various Windows systems. When you are programming some things are not simple. But on the other hand - it could be some hint
Maybe that window uses some function that returns the Processor name/type etc.

No, I'm asking Windows for the processor type, and that's exactly what I get back...

Windows lies--- ?

Good evening,
• Strange: Windows "lies" to TC, but displays the right infos for AMD™ in the "Devices Manager" ???
- Including the 2-CPU feature -only XP-Pro manages this-.
• Please, could you explain us in brief what occurs ?
EDIT:
• Under Xp-Pro, the good location to get the good infos:

Maybe this page can help you: http://grafi.ii.pw.edu.pl/gbm/x86/cpuid.html Soreno told me about this page in this thread.IGL wrote:Anybody knows how to read processor information for non-Intels using assembler?
Based on that page, I made my own function to return CPUID using assembler about a year ago.
Of all the planets I've been to, this one is my favorite.

CPUID crashes on some older CPUs, therefore I didn't add it yet - stability is more important.
