-TC still acts weird @ incomplete RAR5 archives

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-TC still acts weird @ incomplete RAR5 archives

Post by *TW »

TC 8.5 B11 still fails to handle incomplete RAR5 properly, IF the external winrar.exe is used for unpacking.

TC can open those incomplete RAR5 archives, but gives wrong error messages when trying to extract/view files from there.

try to extract a file --> winrar gives "unexpected end of archive". TC can still unpack it, but then throws out a "error unpacking files". Which is wrong, the file got unpacked properly.

Even worse happens if i try to view (F3, internal viewer) a file. winrar message is the same, but TC doesn't even open the lister and gives "error unpacking files" message. Which is wrong too, the file got unpacked properly intp the TEMP directory.

Everything works fine with OLD RAR archives.

i uploaded 2 test files:

I'm also getting this error in WinRAR 5 itself when trying to view a (completely present) file from that archive. My guess is that it's a solid archive with the CRC at the end of the entire archive. Therefore you get the error because RAR cannot verify the CRC of the single file. But this is just a guess, it may also be just a bug of WinRar 5...
