Playing MP3's from usb drive.

I have a Nexus 7 4.4. (not rooted))I am using Total commander with USB-stick.
I can look at files on a flash drive and I can load them to the google music player by selecting them it TC but using the music player or n7player I can't see the flash drive to put them in the library or create a play list.
Is there any way to make the files visible in these apps or is there a media player that works with USB-stick / Total Commander?
