DateTime, Size and sorting in Search results window

Post by *jestraboss »

Hello,

I have such a request, but I don't know, maybe it is solved somehow.

I use search (Alt+F7) quite often. If I get many results, I miss sorting possibilities and mostly information about date, time and size of sought files. I think the best type of resulting view would be window with clickable header for sorting by header part.

Thank you.

After you got search results, just press button "Feed to listbox".
Now you can choose a custom column with all info you need incl. sorting.

Thank you for answer. Yes, I can get list of results to panel with ability to sort, but I do not view the files' parameters, i.e. date, time nor size.

Btw. I am using version 8.51a.

you have to define a custom column first:

- Just do a right click on a column header like "name"
- choose "Configure custom columns"
- press "New" button
- enter a name of your choice
- press "Add column" button
- on the very right side press "+" button
- from the context menu choose "tc.size"
- press "Add column" button again
- on the very right side press "+" button again
- from the context menu choose whatever you need more
... and so on

Finally press "OK" button

Now you have created your first custom column!
After you got search results, just press button "Feed to listbox".
Now you can choose a custom column with all info you need incl. sorting.

Well, I need to leard much! :?

Thank you very much. The way is a little complicated, but leads to goal.

But still, simpler would be the extension, datetime and size directly in the search results window - just a suggestion.

The View of the search results should be like this:
[Path\Name.Ext] [Size] [Date] [Attributes]

Exactly like the view you see when you click <Feed to listbox>.
But sadly the fields for [Size] [Date] [Attributes] are all empty.
In the listbox: is there a way to go to the file instead of opening it?

A set of configured columns (yet another click) doesn't do the same.
It always shows 1st [Name] [Ext]. But it should be [Path\Name.Ext].

Workaround 1: column set [Name] [Ext] [Path] - this is weird and takes to much space
Workaround 2: use Everything directly

I have a custom column search results which also shows date time.
It is automatically applied after feed to listbox.
This is done by an Auto View mode using the condition S
and the name of the search results custom view.

The search result dialog itself shows the files/folder with the same sorting as you had in the file panel before the search was started.

If you want to change the sorting after the search is done, you will have to feed the result to listbox.
