Hello everyone.

Congrats to Mr Ghisler on the very good application, both on Win and Android.

I am sorry to consume your time, but I have spent several hours trying to mount/map a network share on a local folder, so I can access this share from every app and I have failed miserably.

I know cifs manager used to do that, but a) it has been discontinued and b) the 1.5a version that circulates on the net, does not work for me.

So I've read in a post on some forum, that TC with its lan plugin can do exactly that. I can see my files alright but I cannot for the life of me, see how I can make a mounted share.

So I came to the source. Is this possible at all and if it is how?

If not, could any of the more knowledgeable guys point me to the right direction? I need something that can work in Android 4.1.1 and 5.1.

No, Total Commander with LAN plugin cannot do that. It has to be done on the system level, via device driver. It can only be done with root rights, and depends on certain functions of the kernel. The best solution would probably a custom kernel or custom ROM with this capability.

Hello Mr Ghisler.

After a lot of fiddling around, I found out that one of my Androids, a mini PC called CX919, on which I have indeed installed a custom rom, did actually manage to work correctly with the CIFS manager application.

The problem was that it was trying to load some modules located in /system/libs/modules which were non existent on my other Androids. Probably for good reason. I guess the kernel does not support them.

I will try to see what I can do for the rest of them. Thank you for your reply.
