If I make a User-defined location, then when I long-press any item and press on Properties - nothing happens, I am just taken back to the file list.

TC 2.72 on HTC One (M8) with Android 6.0

This will be in the next version. Other functions like ID3 tags in the player for files in custom locations will also be supported in the next version.
