Shared folder icons
Shared folders have the same icon like normal folders have.

Microsoft has disabled them:
http://www.askvg.com/how-to-get-shared-folder-icon-back-in-windows-explorer-in-windows-7/
Since TC uses Explorer icons now, we get this problem too.
I have therefore added my own "hand" icons from TC8.x to the TC9 folders as a sort of overlay now.

I'm using my own "hand" icons for shared folders now, please test it with beta 3!

I can confirm that there are custom drawn overlays now. However the quality differs: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=44196&start=15ghisler(Author) wrote:Can anyone confirm this, please?

Why do you think the had icon looks bad in examples 3 and 4? They are both the 32x32 icon, once unscaled, and once scaled up from 32x32 to 48x48.
You can recognize the 32x32 icon, it doesn't have a fingertip pointing upwards as the 16x16 icon.

The overlay is used very good. It could have an 48 or 64 version, but this is not my point.
I refer to the folder icon in the background. There the 16x16 version (you can see it at the top border of the icon - there is no angle like the 32x32 icon has) of the folder icon is used scaled up to 32x32 and 48x48. Instead the 32x32 or 48x48 folder icon should be overlayed by the hand icon in the current quality.
Here it is easier to spot:

Little remark: The current icon scaling seems to handle transparency (alpha channel) wrong. Have a look at my manually scaled 16x16 icon (bottom left) and compare it to the ThumbIconSize=32 folder icon (top line second from right). There is a dark border around the icon scaled by TC. (the part that should be semitransparent.)

I can conifm that the hand is overlayed the folder icon for shared folders - also for customized icons (via Desktop.ini).Can anyone confirm this, please?
But ONLY if System folder icons are used. If IconLib=%COMMANDER_EXE% is used, I only get the standard folder icon with the hand under (icon no. 5 in %COMMANDER_EXE%).
It would be REALLY nice if the overlay trick was also used, when an iconlib is used!

No problem here. TC9 beta6 shows the hand symbol, regardless of IconLib setting.

IconLib=%COMMANDER_EXE%
Option "Show overlay icons" is disabled in both cases.

Yes, but if the icon for the folder is customized - by setting the [.ShellClassInfo]IconFile= option in the Desktop.ini file inside the folder - then it is still the same yellow folder with a hand under that is shown when using the iconlib setting - in stead of showing the customized icon overlayed with the hand.
Try and make a desktop.ini file in your TC folder with this content:
Then make your TC folder shared. If you are NOT using iconlib you will se that the TC icon gets the hand under it, but if iconlib is used then it is the yellow folder with the hand that is used (this is how it has always been in TC previously - but now I see a chance to have that fixed).

Then make you TC folder read-only (or system or hidden) and restart TC. Now your TC folder has the TC-icon in the file list.[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=totalcmd64.exe
IconIndex=0

Ah, I see. I don't use desktop.ini stuff, so I don't have this problem. In fact I hate it when programs like OpenOffice/LibreOffice do it for their start menu shortcuts.

Yes, with IconFile set, TC will use the folder with share indicator because there is no separate share indicator icon in user icon files.
