Problems with wrong and too much error messages

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Problems with wrong and too much error messages

Post by *omgomg »

"Odd behavior" is not a very clever term for an forum subject, isn't it? /mod

Hello there,

Thanks for making this software, it's awesome, reminds of the good old DOS days :)

Anyways, so I've installed the latest 9.0 beta and I found a couple of odd things:

1. The error refers to the destination file while in fact it's the source file that can't be accessed (for whatever reason).
2. Why would I need to be informed of EACH access error, and require my input to continue? That pretty much defeats the purpose of having TC.

Apparently you battle a lot of spam and have to do this odd post blocking thing, which is quite annoying. Maybe it's time to try one of those modern platforms out there, that handle all of it for you :)

Welcome to the forums!

Apparently you didn't enable the option to skip all unreadable files in the copy dialog ("Skip all which cannot be opened for reading").

Really? Odd that nobody seems to use this "wonder platform" that solves all spam problems...
Seriously, the restrictions may be annoying, but other platforms have very similar issues fighting spam, only the approach may be different (WSUS Offline Update forum moderates the posts of new users, other forums use CAPTCHAs and so on). In the end, spammers are always there, on every platform. And all kinds of spam prevention mechanisms are annoying the users.

Yeah you may be right about the spam stuff. :)

Thank you for editing the post, and the title. Wish I had the brains for a more descriptive title.

I did check skip files that are unreadable, that's why I figured I'd let you know.

Mmh, can you give step by step instructions how you end up with that "Access denied" error?
