slow usb copy operations

Post by *Aurelien »

Hello,

i encounter really slow copy operations using TC for android 2.72, as well as 2.80 beta 4

i use a OnePlus 3 with official OxygenOS (android 6.01) with a usb type c to usb type a cable

the usb key is a kingston hyperx fury 64 Gb

if i use the embedded android file manager, using copy / paste operations, copy speeds are normal, but file transfers are not as easy to accomplish this way...

sorry, seems my problem seems the same that the one reported here : http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=45165

but my problem is not when moving files, but copying (maybe the same problem after all ?)

No, copying should be fine. Where are you copying from/to the USB key? Internal memory? LAN? FTP?

i do a copy from the usb key to internal memory.

the key has a 64GB capacity.
the phone has the same capacity too, no SD Card support.

i used to have a Nexus 9 tablet, which had received Android 6, 6.01 and several security fixes, then 7, and such copies did not slow down as what i get here.

i will try a copy from a LAN share, i have not thought to test that...
i will try with another key too.
and if the key is writable due to Android, i will try to put files on it from internal memory.

it might be a phone / rom problem too, as OnePlus USB might not conform to USB standard

some feedback :

when copying from LAN, no problem at all.

using my old Flash Voyager GT (2GB, usb 3, fat 32) with a 600MB file, i have no problem either.

trying again with the 64 GB key (fat32), the problem does not occur all the time.
i do not encounter the problem immediatly.
after some copies go well at normal speeds, next copies are done really slowly, but not always.
files are in a directory structure which contains 343 folders, and a 21GB total size.

is there a way to investigate further ?

You could try the same on a PC/Mac - copy big files to the USB key and check whether it suddenly gets slower.

Hello,

please close this thread, because the problem has been solved.

i am not able to tell what solved the problem, though :
- i installed 2.80 beta 5 but have not made tests immediatly
- a few days ago there was an OTA upgrade on my OnePlus 3 and got Android 7.0 (OxygenOS 4.0.1)

i tend to think that the OTG support on the OP3 was incorrect.
