TC 9.0 RC: Shift+F4 on file without extension kills file

Post by *karlchen »

Hello, Christian.

As reported by petermad in another thread, shift-F4 on an existing file that has got no filename extension, will nuke the existing file and create a new 0 byte file instead.
petermad wrote:Confirmed in TC9rc1-3
The same bug also applies to Shift+F4 on a file without extension - in stead of opening the existing file it creates a new zero-byte file
Problem confirmed in that other thread by 2 users:
karlchen wrote:Editing an existing file lacking a filename extension using Shift-F4 will create a new file. The editor window will be empty not displaying the old file content. The previously existing file will be lost the moment you confirm to edit the file.
(This is particularly nasty, because existing file content is nuked.)

And sorry again for not having created a separate thread earlier.

Yes, sorry for not opening a new thread for this report - I thought it might be closely related to the other bug.
