Sync Dir fails with saved list

Post by *yzhuang »

I have a saved Sync Dir setting, called "backup", which compares two directories A and B, but filtered on a few selected sub-folders. The list of the sub-folders is persisted as "backup_list.txt" on disk.

Now
* set TC main window left pane to Dir C, right pant to Dir D;
* select a few folders in left pane and run Synchronize Dirs | Compare;
* note that the checkbox says "only selected (in main window)";
* everything is good so far (the compare result is correct);
* hit F2 and load my saved compare setting "backup";
* click Compare button -- the result is INCORRECT;
* note that at this moment the checkbox says "only selected backup_list.txt".

I didn't run enough tests to try to understand the second comparison result, but looks to me that TC was still filtering on folders "only selected (in main window)" when the comparison context already switched to dir A/B (saved setting), despite the checkbox says otherwise.

This was working correctly in TC 8.52a, but is failing in TC 9.0.

Thanks for your report, I can confirm the problem. I will fix it in the next version.

As a workaround, to use saved sync options with selection, you will need to open the sync tool while no files are selected.

Thank you for the confirmation and workaround! Unfortunately, this bug is a blocker for me to upgrade to TC9 at this time.
