Freezes Samsung Galaxy S7 when copying files to external SD

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Freezes Samsung Galaxy S7 when copying files to external SD

Post by *bean224466 »

Samsung Galaxy S7 freezes totally when TC is copying files to the phone's SD card. This is reproducible.

I only have an S5 and S4 mini, but I don't have this problem. TC uses the standard OLE2 functions (copy and paste) to copy to the device. There is just one way to do this. Therefore I cannot change anything.

My only advice is that you should use a plugin like ADB to access your files.

Thanks. Strangely, this happens only with TC 9.0 There was no problem with TC 8.52.

Please retry this with TC 8.52 - it makes no sense, the used code to copy is exactly the same in the two versions.

You can re-download 8.52a here:

Eh, something weird is going on between the phone, the cable, the USB port and the PC. The freeze I mentioned happened three times in a row but never afterwards so I treat it as a momentary glitch.

However, when I copy files from the PC to the phone's (external) SD-card, it usually takes several tries until the files are actually copied. This goes for TC 8.52 and 9.0 equally.

Hmm, could be a mechanical problem (dying contacts). Maybe try a different cable?

Different cable, different port, even a different phone -- it is always the same. F5, question, "yes" and then nothing. Again, nothing. Again -- copied. Well, I'll try to live with it. Thanks for the sympathy :)

Does it unfreeze when you disconnect the cable?

The freezing problem is over (I think); it happened only on one day. But the phone did not unfreeze when I removed the cable.

The other issue (repeated tries needed to do the copying) is enduring :)
Funny thing is that if I open the phone' SD card in a Windows Explorer window and drag-and-drop files from TC they are copied smoothly and immediately.
