File names editting - renaming base part only (no Extension)

Post by *dinubercea »

When I want to completly change a file name I use to click twice (with pause) and the filename become selected and editable. Unfortunately the whole name, including extension, is selected. So you could not just start typing or you have to reenter the extension. It would be very useful if only the file name would be selected as, in most cases, we do not want to change the extension. (In WINDOWS 10 explorer it work as I like).

Thank for giving us this wonderful tool!

That is not a bug, maybe a suggestion for implementation, but it is already possible.

Hi and welcome dinubercea.

That is already possible:

See Preferences > Configuration >> Operation: Main program | "[_] select only the file name when renaming"

Or use the default Shift+F6 for renaming (many have this remapped to 'F2') and press that key twice.
