Customize TC Title Bar

Post by *suimong »

Hi everyone,

I wonder if TC's title bar caption can be customised. The reason for this is that I use two separate profiles (i.e. two separate totalcmd.ini) for work and personal purpose, but the two tc windows are most often opened at the same time and it would be better if i can distinguish them just by their titles. Right now the first opened tc session will display its normal title while the later opened tc session will add "[2]" in front of its standard title, which is not intuitive at all.

I did a quick search on google and this forum but wasn't been able to find a solution. Much appreciated if anyone could point me to the right direction. Thank you.

Hi
An interesting coincidence. The recently released beta version of TC 9.1 allows that.

You can use total camper, or use a script (AHK, powerpro,.....) (you can even copy TC exe pgms to TCPro and TCPerso) to discover mor easilly which is which !
Another approach is to change color setting to distinguish both.

I must have overlooked this new option - very nice.

Here is a suggestion:
Instead of static text it would be nice to have variable text like e.g.:
%CURRENT_TAB_NAME%
%CURRENT_FOLDER%

Prepending this information would probably solve most requests related to the title bar.

Problem: How should Total Commander "know" when to update the title bar?

Well, TC knows which panel and tab is active and knows the content, when that changes, change the Title.

But for now - with the current implementation, could you make it possible to combine the two options: *text in front, and $text behind - so that for example:
TitleExtraText=*Windows 10$Danish
would result in a title like:
Windows 10 - Total Commander 9.10 (x64) - John Doe - Danish

Umm, after a folder or a tab change?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Is it possible to remove the (x64) bit from the Title Bar? If I need to know which version it is I can easily go Help | About and find out. It's not something of which I need to be constantly reminded.

It is importand for all users which run the x86 and x64 versions in parallel.
So why should Christian remove it, just to save 4 characters in title bar ?

So you are clever and know the actual version by other (complicated) means :)
