TC not working for me / OK, re-installed = solved!

I have a problem. TC freezes after few minutes. Win 10. Everything was perfect untill now.
8.01 ver. but it doesn't matter.
I have no plugins installed
No viruses
I've made no changes, so I haven't any idea of what's the cause of this freez

Welcome to the forum.

First of all you should update TC to the latest version (currently 9.12).
There are a lot of optimizations with TC 9 regarding Win 10.

If the problem still occurs:
Which Win 10 version are you using?
What is the main action which freezes TC?
May open of a context menu?

Do the freezes occur when you do anything specific in TC? Did you try a more recent TC version?

I've installed 9.12 - same. That's why I wrote that version doesn't matter.
Win 10 pro, but problem is not in win 10, cause 1 year TC was working perfect.
Any action: open files, copy, even when I preferences open

What happens when you start TC with a clean wincmd.ini like this:

totalcmd.exe /i="%temp%\fresh.ini"

If it still freezes, try NirSoft WhatIsHang to see if that can give any information about why this happens. Also: Does TC react to inputs eventually or does it hang forever? How many files are there in the directories you open in TC?

I've just made a complete uninstall of TC (.ini file too), and then reinstall it and it worked. Thx everyone for help

Good for you, and I'm glad that it worked. Unfortunately, this way we still don't (and probably won't) know what exactly the issue was... All we know is that it's some setting. That being said, please post here again if the issue shows itself again (before resetting your settings).
