Default filter in directory comparison dialog

Most of the time I compare two directory structures with source code (*.cxx *.hxx ...). Now every time I reopen the directory comparison dialog, "*.*" is selected as default filter, and I have to reselect "*.cxx *.hxx ... | ..." from the dropdown list.

I would really appreciate an additional checkbox to keep the previously selected filter instead of "*.*" when reopening the dialog.

The same thing in the file search dialog.

Resetting to "*.*" after closing Total Commander feels okay, because this usually starts a new session 'from zero' and I may want to do totally different things then.

You can already do this with a custom button, start menu entry, or hotkey (via internal command):

1. Open the sync tool
2. Choose the filter
3. Click on the little folder icon in the top left
4. Choose to save the options, e.g. with name: FilterOptions
5. Uncheck the saving of the directories (!)
6. Create a button, start menu entry, or internal (em_?) command with command:
SYNCOPEN FilterOptions

Oh, I really never noticed the small button on the top left!

But to keep things simple: Would it not feel natural to keep the previously selected filter after reopening the dialog in the same session (and resetting to *.* after Total Commander is closed)? If I need another filter than *.*, about 95% of the time I want to use that filter again for the next comparison, but have to do extra work to reselect it.

Just keep it in mind while using the dialog yourself, and maybe you can add this behaviour sometimes in the future if it feels good.

It could be dangerous in case you don't notice that an older filter is still in place.
