Range check error when extracting rar files

Post by *Wandrer »

The following error pops up when extracting RAR files with the newest Windows 10 Version and the internal RAR function.

Files are extracted fine, but the Folder view gets distorted and Shows doubles of the files which ere shown in the window before the error appeared, Scrolling does not work anymore (endless scrolling and no change).

The error exists in Total Commander version 9.20 beta 1 and 2, but not in the latest release client.

Hi Wandrer,

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you extracting the RAR archive via command "Unpack..." [ALT+F9], or do you first enter into the archive and mark all files/folders, then press [F5] to copy/unpack?

I tried both ways with several RAR archives, I don't get any error using TC 9.20ß2 64-bit on Windows 10 including April 2018 update.

Two updates, the archives i used are all multipart and bigger as 1GB and RAR file format versions before 5.0.

I don't get the error with any RAR file, only some and after extracting Total Commander has to be restarted.

I used the second way, entering the archive and then F5.

I couldn't reproduce it so far, but I didn't try any RAR files >1GB yet.

Are the individual parts >1GB, or just the entire archive (all parts together)?

It's probably the same as the other range check errors. I couldn't reproduce it with any RAR files here, I even created one myself > 4GB.

Could you please test if this still occurs with beta 3?
