Checksum Auditing

Post by *Dschultz »

Maybe this is already a feature of Total commander but I have a request if not.

I work in the legal field and when a Case is sent to the County Attorney discovery laws require that we disclose everything. We need an easy way of tracking which files have already been sent and which are new.

When I run 'Verify Check Sums' would be nice if it would not only audit the old files but also alert me that there are new files that have not been Checksumed.

TC doesn't have such function, because it only checks the files given in the hash file. But, nothing is impossible: hashdeep can warn about new files, although I don't know if it spits out which ones are new or if it just shows a generic message that there are new files.

Use two separate folders for files have already been sent and which are new.
Or rename the files which are send already.
Or utilize the comment feature (descript.ion)
