On Renaming: Drag select filename limited

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

On Renaming: Drag select filename limited

Post by *Hurdet »

I select a file.
I press f2.
With mouse i start to drag from end to begin
If the filename is very long i'm not able to reach the beginning of the name.
I can only reach the visible part of the name.
Not problem with keyboard.

I press f2.
Do you mean Shift+F6? F2 by default updates the file panel, so I guess you have remapped F2.

Anyway - If your report is about inline renaming, i cannot confirm - if i drag with the mouse to outside of the left border of the rename box, the text scrolls to the right.

Yes, I tried with a name much longer than the space in the file panel (140 characters).

Have you trie moving the mouse caret to the left of the rename box, nut just to the edge of it

Hmm, it works in both panels for me - I have also tried with a clean ini-file - it still works

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce this problem. But TC is using a standard Edit control, it shouldn't have such a problem...

Proble with tc fullscreen.
Even in full screen, and if I disable icons in file panels and I set InplaceOkButton=1 - so there is nothing to the left of the file name - I still cannot reproduce this bug.

What Windows version are you using?
Can you reproduce the bug with a clean ini-file?
Could you maybe upload a screenshot of how your TC panel looks?

The problem is solved if set
Showicons=1
I believe because a space is created on the left.

Reproduce:
WIN10
Full screen
Left panel
Showicons=0
shift-F6
Drag selection with mouse to left
FileName Column hold
It does not always happen

TC panel

Unfortunately it doesn't happen here even with icons disabled. But there is a workaround if you don't want icons: You can move the "Confirm rename" button to the left of the rename edit box:

wincmd.ini
[Configuration]
InplaceOkButton=2
