Icons of Excel disappeared

Hi!
After some Win10 update, the icons of Excel disappeared from TC (there are just the white ones). Other icons work (DOC, PDF...). I read the FAQ but I wasn't able to follow the instructions.

Re-installation of TC hasn't helped.

What should I do?

Hi.

Does it work with Windows Explorer?

Which Windows OS do you use?
Win10(Build?)
Which bit architecture? 32-bit/64-bit

Which Total Commander version do you use?
32/64-bit?
Do it work with opposite bitness (32 instead of 64, or vice versa)?
Do it work running TC as Administrator?

- TC 9.0a 64bit (2016-12-14); Admin-yes; opposite bitness-I haven't tried (I thought it can't work )

but why don't you update TC to actual version 9.21a and test again.

You can run 32bit and 64bit TC on a 64bit Windows, but only 32bit TC on a 32bit Windows.

but why don't you update TC to actual version 9.21a and test again.

I've just tried it (the combined version 32/64) and no change.

In TC, put the cursor on an Excel file and choose "Files" - > "Associate With..." in the menu - what is the file is associated with according to your TC?

Win10 Pro x64 latest update, TC9.21a 32+64

I have the same display of Excel files - just blank icon(white page). This also applies to Word and PowerPoint files.
I don't have MS Office installed, so I have never dealt with this issue (using Open Office).
Explorer shows the MS Office file type icons.
My file(s) association are the respective MS Viewers.
Win>Settings>Default Apps>Choose default apps by file type: correctly shows the MS Office Icons for the file type(s) with MS Office Viewers as the Default Apps.

Exact same setup(same PC) as above with TC8.01 32, some MS Office icons are correctly shown. xls=ok, xlsx & xlsa=no (not associated also blank in Explorer), doc=no, ppt=no.

Unfortunately, that's not the point. The files work correctly (the xls file opens in Excel), but I can't see the icons.

You could say it's just a cosmetic problem then but it's quite bothering.

Thanx, but as I said - I don't have difficulty opening the file, just seeing the icon.

Thanx for your reply. Unfortunately, I don't know what I should do with it. While the icons work in Explorer but not in TC, I suppose the problem is simply in TC, not Windows.
