Easier directory-favorites editing and enhancements

I use the directory-favorites a lot but for me it is still not easy to add items.
Specially when they need to be nested. I have a very complex tree structure.
I want to have the option that the look and feel is more intuitive and you can use coloring. For example the use of - or -- to create the menu folders and within the directories are difficult to read and use when you want to build a directory favorites structure. Coloring for example, I want to use for labeling the favorites. Color labels for picture folders, movie folders or for ICT guys colors to differentiate OTAP environment.
