4-number codes for file formats

Post by *nn1k3 »

I cannot find the 4-number ID for .lnk files "Microsoft Windows Shortcut."
Although that file type is listed in Oracle's "ds-oitfiles-133032.pdf", it is not listed in ulister's "formats.txt." Only the latter file includes those 4-number codes.

Maybe I should ask where those 4-number codes came from. I do not see them on the Oracle Outside In Technology website.

What should ULister show for .lnk files ?
If you want to see the target of .lnk files (Symlinks and Junctions)
make a custum view using the NTLinks plugin.

.lnk files have absolutely nothing to do with symbolic links, junctions or hard links!

However, I also wonder why someone would want to use a pretty generic plugin with a somewhat bloated runtime to show information on .lnk files. Anyway, there's the Shortcut content plugin which can be used in a very similar fashion, and even the LinkInfo Lister plugin.

...
I know this :)
but nevertheless NTLinks shows the .lnk entries of type Symlink or Junction with its target path and the Object type.

Thanks for the notice.

Looks like no more 32-bit files, only 64-bit. At least only the 64-bit came up when I logged in with my 64-bit Windows. I still mainly use TC-32 because of the "fear" that some of my add-ons won't work.

For this there is the combined 32/64 Bit installation.
One button click, and you have the 32bit in the same dirs.

Yes, for TC I have TC 32 and 64 bit versions in the same directory. That is what I am doing. But the Oracle files are now only 64 bit.

For the fun of it, I copied the 64 bit files into the redist32 folder to see if the ulister plugin would use them from TC32, but no, it won't. So I am mainly using TC32 with the Oracle 8.5.6 files and TC64 with the Oracle 8.5.7 files. No problem.
