[ctrl]+[alt]+[shift]+[any key] does not work as shortcut

Post by *Sheepdog »

You can assign [ctrl]+[alt]+[shift]+[any key] as shortcut to a cinternal or usercommand. But it would not work. You'll have to leave out one of the keys until the shortcut works.

:) Hi Stefan !

 It's planned by design for users who have not fingers enough ! :P

:| Seriously : Have you a AltGr key on your keyboard ? It values Ctrl+Alt, so one key less in the combination that you wish …

Do we know that this is strictly a TC (or Delphi) limitation? I'm not aware of a shortcut that uses all the above keys but there might be a chance of a similar behaviour over core MS Window tools and applications. If you know one that exists, test its behaviour over your OS.

You may be right. But otherwise it is a shortcut you could select from within the inbuilt Startmenu editor ([Ctrl]+[Alt]+[shift]+[F1-12]). So it is inconsistent.

NOT confirmed. Ctrl-Alt-Shift-F11 cm_VerticalPanels works as expected.

I use WinXP Pro. Hacker told me that he uses Win98SE. Anyone with XP where it works?

Thanks

Just my 0.02€...

On my computer (Win2K+Sp4 French version) it also works correctly exepted...
for some keys that are remapped for special caracters as
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+O = Œ
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+ù = ‰
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+C = ©
by a program called KEYMAP
But all is OK when I select a non-remapped caracter

I've found the troublemaker:

Apparently my wireless keyboard has problems to send the four-key scan code to the PC. I changed to my old wired Cherry keyboard and [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[alt]+ [anykey] work perfect.

Thanks to all - without your help I would have installed windows again without any effect.

Interessing, i'm also using a good old wired Cherry Board. None of the modern crapboards come close to it regarding keypress sensitivity.
Plus mine doesn't have those awful Windows-Keys right beside the Alt-Keys and other stupid gadgets which they implement to appeal new customers.

And mine has the nice 'click' too to let you know the keyboard noticed your keypress. It did coast three times the amount of such an win-key noname keyboard.
And it's worth each penny.

It frightens me that you didn't use any emoticon for this phrase of yours. You were actually planning an installation from scratch for this tiny problem, weren't you? :?
