Version 9.22 (64-bit) did not give a notification that version 9.22a is available. I cannot check if this bug is still in 9.22a until a next version is available. I checked wincmd.ini that these entries were there:
  • AutoUpdateCheck=1
    AutoUpdateCheckBeta=1

Maybe this info will help you:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=50562
ghisler(Author) wrote:You may need to remove the lines starting with
AutoUpdateCheckDate=
AutoUpdateInformedVersion=

from your wincmd.ini.
They were set when you checked manually.

PS: After starting TC, for me it takes about 1/2 minute until I automatically receive a message about a new version.

I could imagine the following scenario, why you didn't get a hint for an update:
- Total Commander 9.22a final was announced on 29.03.2019 14:57 in the english forum
- You started TC on 29.3.2019 BEFORE 14:57, e.g. 11:00 o'clock.
   AutoUpdateCheckDate=201903xxxx will be entered at 11:00 in wincmd.ini
- viewtopic.php?p=352381#p352381
   ;1 means the number of days to wait until the next check - here it's one day (check every day).
- You started TC on 29.3.2019 AFTER 14:57, e.g. 16:00 o'clock.
- On this day (29.3.2019) there is no new automatic request for updates from TC.

TC only checks for updates once a day. Since I released TC 9.22a late on Friday, most update checks must have gone through already by then.
