Add easier shortcut for clearing quick search input field

Post by *MVV »

TC 9.50b1 has introduced Ctrl+Y shortcut for clearing quick search input field. This shortcut is not very good for ones who use 10 finger method for typing text. Please add a shortcut that is easier to press with single hand, e.g. Ctrl+D, it is much easier to press and should be easy to remember.

tuska,
You can't open the Directory hotlist while the Quicksearch dialog is open anyways. Or at least I can't.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

That depends on your keyboard layout.
On a German keyboard I don't see any advantage using Ctrl-D instead of Ctrl-Y

Isn't just "Ctr+A" plus "start typing -or- press Backspace" sufficient anyway?
Is there an advantage on using "Ctrl+Y " ?

just curious I am

I see that it is the same, but it is not easy to use it, it requires two hands.

Since there are German keyboards where Ctrl+Y is easy to press and there are other keyboards (much more popular) where Ctrl+Y is hard to press, please add an option to select between 2-3 fixed shortcuts.

I didn't check it myself right now, but shouldn't this shortcut be just user editable in configuration?

Christian, can you make it easier for non-QWERTZ users?

I couldn't add Ctrl+W because that's already used to delete the word to the left of the cursor, but Ctrl+Z was still available.
