Multi-rename tool > Upper/lowercase behavior on removable drives

Post by *gezgin »

Using ToCo 9.22a 64 bit.

Try this:

1. Copy some files to a flash drive, SDXC card, etc.
2. Select them all (control-A)
3. Enter the Multi-Rename Tool (control-M)
4. In Upper/Lower case select an option that makes a lot of changes (all upper case eg)
5. Click on Start.
6. Click on Close.
7. Observe that nothing has changed.

This behavior seems to occur only on removable media.

Is this a bug or a feature?

I cannot reproduce that - tested with a SDHC 8 Gb flashcard (FAT) and a 4 GB USB-stick (FAT) and a 64 Gb USB-stick (NTFS).

What is your setting for "Options" -> "Configuration..." -> "Display" -> "Show old 8.3 filenames lowercase (like explorer)" ?

IF that setting is enabled and your filames has 8.3 characters or less - then all uppercase file names will show up as lowercase with first letter Uppercase, unless there is a space in the name - then they are treated like a long filenames.
