Tooltip with complete filename has small font

Post by *literakl »

I have Dell XPS13 with 4K display that is connected to a 1920x1200 monitor. The GUI looks normal except a tooltip that seems to be rendered for 4K display.

That looks indeed strange. What are your screen scaling settings (right click on desktop - display settings), e.g. 100% or 150% or so?

I will tell you once I get home. I do not have an external monitor at this moment.
My current resolution is 3840x2160 and the scaling is 225% and the tooltip is correct.

I am at another computer with external 4K display and the issue is there as well. The font is set to 150% scale. I use Windows 10 Home 64bit.

Is this in Total Commander 32-bit or 64-bit?

I had a similar issue with a 4k display on my laptop. I fixed mine by adding the following line in Wincmd.ini under [Configuration]:
DpiPerScreen=0 (Set to 0 to let Windows 10 scale TC to different screen resolutions)

Then adding the following to Wincmd.ini under [AllResolutions]:
FontNameTip= Font for tooltips
FontSizeTip= Font size for tooltips
FontWeightTip= Font weight for tooltips

I found a solution which I will put in TC 9.50 beta 12, so no need to set DpiPerScreen=0.

Your bug should be already fixed in TC 9.50 beta 12 and newer:
history9.50.txt wrote:07.01.20 Fixed: Tooltips for very long file names (option "Win32 style tips disabled") had wrong font size on high DPI screens (64)
so you can update your TC 9.22a or install beta version of TC in separate directory to check whether the bug was actually fixed in these newer versions.
