Seeing hidden directories when ftp'ing

On my site are a few hidden directories which I want to be able to access.
I.e. a map .doc (DOT doc)
With TC I can not seem to do this, is that correct?
I have the option Show hidden files set to on, and can't think of more options I can switch on or off.
