Exactly! :)

Btw, I have updated "10. Searching file contents ('Everything' -> content:)" and more (e.g. links) above.

sorry for bothering and for misunderstanding. I thought all parameters with : at the end are everything parameters. Now I understood that ed/ev are TC parametrs , but I cant understand if TC has some more parameters
F1 in TC doesnt return anything related with that question

No, as far as I know, there are NO further parameters concerning Total Commander <-> 'Everything'-Integration,
which are available for searches in Total Commander using 'Everything' provided by the author for this purpose.

However, I am beginning to wonder why I took the trouble to give you a list upstairs, where you can find help,
because in the HISTORY.TXT it would have been easy to find ALL THE INFORMATION you need to 'Everything' yourself.
(18 lines should not be too much to read)
F1 - Help ... Dialog box: Search: General wrote: Put "ev:" in front of the search string to pass it to Everything unchanged.
You will then have to use the Everything search syntax, see www.voidtools.com.
Put "ed:" in front of the search string: Like "ev:", but search only in the directories specified in the "Search in" field.
            Also handles "Search subdirectories" option.
This is handled by prefixing path:c:\path and optionally parents:<nr to the entered search string.
Everything: ...
F1 - Help ... What's new in this version? wrote:Search yourself for: ed: ev:
If no further Total Commander commands are listed in the HISTORY.TXT or F1-Help, then there are none!
I hope we have finally been able to clarify this.

Yes.
'ed:' and 'ev:' just tells TC to forward everything after them to 'Everything'.

Update:
Among other things, another PICTURE was published in the first post:
"Picture 2 - SETTINGS: For 'Everything' in Total Commander & 'Everything'"

In addition, a SPOILER was created for "Picture 2", so that e.g. internet links can be clicked or settings or text can be copied.
In the spoiler there is also a short summary for a possible problem case inclusive solution - see point 1.6.

Basis: 'Everything' 1.4
There will still be bug fixes for Everything 1.4.

EDIT: Hint...
Everything 1.5 Alpha
  • Everything 1.5 Alpha is available for testing.
  • This is an alpha build, the UI is still under development.
  • Everything 1.5 Alpha will not interfere with your Everything 1.4 installation.

God news for users of the Everything Alpha version.
The following entry in the wincmd.ini enables TC to use the 1.5a instance of Everything.
UseEverythingInstance=1.5a
This way I now use the indexed content function of Everything :D

I followed your instructions concerning settings in TC and 'Everything',
e.g. also here, and for me it is as follows.

Variant 1:

Code: Select all

- Total Commander ...: UseEverythingInstance=1.5a (wincmd.ini [Configuration])
- Everything-1.5a.ini: alpha_instance=1
If this variant is used, 2 separate (independent) instances can be open at the same time, e.g.

Code: Select all

Everything - Version 1.4.1.1007 (x64) - with Everything Service .................. > [see: Task Manager: CTRL+SHIFT+ESC,TAB)]
Everything - Version 1.5.0.1248a (x64) - with Everything (1.5a) Service (currently) >
Queries with new parameters from Everything 1.5 Alpha can be made in TC, e.g.

Code: Select all

ev: d: parentsize:<10gb parentdm:2weeks

Variant 2:

Code: Select all

- Total Commander ...: ;UseEverythingInstance=1.5a (wincmd.ini [Configuration])
- Everything-1.5a.ini: alpha_instance=0
If this variant is used, only 1 Everything version can be opened, i.e. e.g.

Code: Select all

Everything - Version 1.4.1.1007 (x64) ... OR ... Everything - Version 1.5.0.1248a (x64).
If you try to open 1.4.1.1007 while 1.5.0.1248a is open,
you will get a 2nd instance of version 1.5.0.1248a (and not 1.4.1.1007)!.

In order to make a search query in TC with new parameters of Everything 1.5a
it is absolutely necessary to pay attention that e.g. version 1.5.0.1248a is open, e.g.

Code: Select all

ev: d: parentsize:<10gb parentdm:2weeks
Thanks again for providing the parameters! :)

I only run the Everything 1.5a and no longer any 1.4.
The Alpha version is stable enough for me and I don't see any benefit running the old version.

This works for me with all the Tools I use regulary:
Everything Toolbar
Total Commander
XYplorer
JumpToFolder
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)

Yes, I also use 1.5a and only use version 1.4 for cases of doubt - you never know...

The decision to continue to use only the new version, e.g. 1.5.0.1250a (x64) has now been easy for me:

When using Everything 1.4 and 1.5 at the same time (each with a separate Everything Service!),
I experienced the following problem in Version 1.4(!):

In some cases, important search queries are no longer possible in Version 1.4 and in some cases filters no longer work.
Going back from 1.5 to 1.4 was not practical for me, as it did not eliminate these problems in version 1.4.

The problem should already be known, as there is this note in the 'Everything'-"TODO" list:
"[PRIORITY] Fix broken Everything 1.4 features".

However, Everything 1.5 works fine for me (including my filters and bookmarks)!

Everything-1.5.0.1318a - 9.9.2022
- fixed a security issue with using an insecure http connection to open the download page.
- fixed a security issue with using an insecure http connection to check for the current available version.

Everything update service suspected of being hijacked
Everything 1.5 may use an insecure http connection to open the downloads page if you are using an old language pack.
Please download the latest language pack and update your Everything.lng.
The en-US 1.5a version will always open the secure download page.

If there's no major issues here, I'll merge this update into 1.4.
