[BUG] Shift-Tab in Search dialog

Post by *Szpak »

Hi,

I discovered that in 6.50 version Shift-Tab stops on General in Search dialog. Tab works as it should (after Find text i General).
I think with bug was introduced in version 6.50.

Regards
Marcin

P.S. I haven't found report about this problem.

I would take this as a feature and I'm pretty sure it is by design:

If you want to cycle through the settings you can always use TAB (as you mentioned). But if you want to go to the other TABs it is convenient to hold shift and press and hold TAB a moment and then use (left/right) to change to the other TABs (advanced/plugins/load+save).

Okay, then. Search for some files.

When done, try to navigate to [Geneal] using "Tab".
Then "Shift"+"Tab" dosen't stop at [General].
It just cycles through the options.

To do this I can use CTRL-TAB and SHIFT-CTRL-TAB.
SHIFT-TAB is default shourtcut in windows to be oposite to TAB.

OK, it works, but before first search this option is broken. I think problem is with "disable" conmponent (control) with results and this causes SHIFT-TAB stops at "general".

A convenient way to switch to a different tab is by using Ctrl+PageDown and Ctrl+PageUp.

I think you are right. You can use the procfs v 2.0 - task manager plugin in a second instance of Total Commander to see this control is called TWidthListBox. This is probably a custom control. (Bit of a strange name, I would expect the name to be TWideListBox rather than TWidthListBox)

It seems in Total Commander version 6.03a this control could receive focus (using the tab key) when the control was not visible on the screen. In Total Commander version 6.50 this seems to be fixed, but not very nicely.

I wonder why Christian Ghisler does not disable the whole panel (containing search results, buttons and status bar) when there are no search results yet.

Shift+Tab is stopped when there has been no search yet, because Windows was tabbing to invisible dialog items (in the result part of the dialog).

Am I right that it's not intended and will be fixed in next release?

No you are not.

It's designed to prevent the focus is set to the invisible dialog items

I think this limits functionality. For me much better idea is to move focus over hidden component to Find text.

I don't want to argue.

I just wanted to clarify @ghislers opinion. ( I know his opinion because of another post of him in the beta-forum)

The problem is still in 6.51. Is it really agreed as no bug, but purposed action?

I agree with Szpak. Jump over fixes problem with invisible dialog and maintains SHIFT+TAB functionality.

If invisible items are also disabled, then Windows should not tab to them...

Search window - one way

Post by *Csimbi »

Dear Christian,
I have an issue.
When You press ALT+F7, search dialog comes.
TAB moves the focus forward, SHIFT+TAB backwards.
While You press TAB, the selection will roll over and start from the begninning when necessary.
However, while You press SHIFT+TAB, the selection will not roll over and stop on "General", "Advanced", etc <=the currently selected tab.
It's been bothering me for quite a while now, but I'm getting frustrated nowadays.
Could You take a look and fix it?
Thank You.
Best regards: Csimbi
