Xtrician, could you be so kind and give the help file and the forum search a chance before asking? You are abusing the forum users as auto answer machines when you post a dozen basic questions per day you can easily answer in a couple of seconds yourself.

It's very misleading to read topics starting with [Bug] or [Feature], so please edit the posting title as soon as you see that a feature request is unneeded or a bug is not a bug to not let the "real" bug and feature request threads die in the archive because they are overlooked.

This is no offense, just think it over please. Thank you, too.

Sure, if you tell me what exactly you don't understand in this quote from the TC help:
WatchDirs=0
Controls the function of automatic dir list updates. It detects when programs other than Total Commander add, modify, or delete files shown in the active file panels.
Just add the following numbers:
1: turn option on (default: off)
2: also detect changes to size, date, attributes
4: put newly added files at the END of the file list (default: sorted)
8: don't react to updates while TC isn't in the foreground
256: Beep on each auto-update (useful for debugging)

:) Hello (+sigh…)
- From the HELP and Tutorial, 4 - b :
WatchDirs=‹ numeric value ›
Determines operation of automatic dir updates. You can do a sum using the following basic values :
1: Turns the option on,
2: detects the changes to size, date, attributes,
4: puts newly added files at the END,
8: doesn't react to updates while TC isn't in the foreground.
256: Beep on each auto-update (useful for debugging)
See too the internal command : cm_SwitchWatchDirs
- In the Tutorial, you have a link to this internal command which complements the WatchDirs INI-variable.
- You can download the free illustrated Tutorial from the link in my signature below.

WatchDirs feature Requires Windows NT, 2000 or XP
so if your OS is 9x or ME you cannot use it!

from TC history.txt
05.04.05 Added: Watch changes of directories, and update them immediately on changes (using ReadDirectoryChangesW function). Requires Windows NT, 2000 or XP

You have to enter that search phrase on "search tab" in Total Commander help; NOT on index tab!

You get exactly one match with "WatchDirs": Ini file settings.
Open it, scroll down using Ctrl-PageDown until you find the line "WatchDirs", it is marked so you can't overlook it. There you find exactly the quote above.

How about learning English first ? *sigh*
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=58948#58948

Please download http://perso.wanadoo.fr/charries/download/totcomm-chm.zip
open Index.htm with IE and RTFM! :D

PS: @Clo - you should update your tut for FF cause it looks like this:
http://img27.echo.cx/img27/1990/claude3gv.jpg
with IE I dont see the lines in the text...
and when you update this (yes I know you LOVE the blind-making-color-overkill) a ENGLISH-Button on your page "This way to the TC-Tut" would be nice :D

:) Hello !
- Strange, because @ home it shows the main-page from the beginning… But still, I've IE6 updated…
:P The CHM-interface is temperamental sometimes in some PCs.
- You can ever hide the title-frame coming back to the main-page by the "Interface" button / link…
- I think to add a "Hide the title" button in futures versions.
- The HTML version displays the main page alright from the beginning too @ home…

2 ALL
- BTW : Did someone else see the same display error with the Tutorial?
Please, let me know, thanks

If you are not able to find the search tab after pressing F1 maybe you should shut down your computer and sell it!

I think that you are fooling us, it's simply not possible that you are THAT blind. All information needed is right here in this thread, not only once but half a dozen times meanwhile.

Visit Clos site to download the English version of the tutorial, it is directly in his signature!
