OK, I "upgraded" to TC 9.51 x64.
TC settings: Configure internal viewer, Multimedia, checkbox at Define method by file type, *.*, 8 (the same as in TC 10 beta)
For tests, I used both Quick View and the permanent Lister window by Ctrl+Shift+Q.
Select media file > mode 8 > select second media > mode 8 (no playing was started in this test)
Select media file > mode 8 > play it > select second media > mode 4 with auto playing > select first media > mode 8
Select media file > mode 8 > play it > select 1x1.bmp > mode 8 > select second media > mode 8
As you see, the result is somehow different: Lister doesn't switch to binary mode 2 on second media, instead it switches to mode 4 and starts playing. I also saw rare random crashes of external handler; correct change 8 > 8 also happened, but very rarely. Supposed solution works here too.
