Re: dark mode based by hours
Could be even better to adjust to Sunrise/Sunset and astronomical/nautical/civil twilight.

Could be even more better to observe solar eclipses and meteorological info about cloudy weather and storms ;-P
But they all are LOCAL data, based on geographic coordinates, which aren't normally available in PC.
On the contrary, date, time and time zone are set by PC user and provided GLOBALLY for all apps by the operation system.

A simple script/task to restart TC at specific times with a command line parameter (/M=) would already suffice - either automatically or ask user to confirm.

Although there was some humor in my earlier post, I am not entirely against such a solution. However, take into account that the setting of the time zone and the country is in most cases completely sufficient for a relatively precise setting of twilight, but not sufficient for providing weather forecasts. (yeah i can see there's some irony here too)

Re: dark mode based by hours
No need for restart - it's enough to send "cm_SwitchDarkmode" to TC at specific time e.g. by AHK script.hi5 wrote: 2021-06-10, 18:10 UTC A simple script/task to restart TC at specific times with a command line parameter (/M=) would already suffice - either automatically or ask user to confirm.
Re: dark mode based by hours
No, it isn't. Neither in Poland nor in Chile, for example. It depends on latitude: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight#DurationGral wrote: 2021-06-10, 18:16 UTC 2Usher

Example in details:
- You can't observe civil white nights in Poland.
- In most northern regions of Poland you can observe nautical white nights for several summer days.
- Astronomical white nights can already be observed on the whole Poland territory. See this map and note dates: https://www.facebook.com/ZGlowaWGwiazdach/photos/a.393791834012704/3058654000859794/?type=3

Re: dark mode based by hours
Could someone try the following tool:
https://github.com/Armin2208/Windows-Auto-Night-Mode
It allows to switch the Windows 10 dark mode at sunrise and sunset.
If it works well, it should be sufficient to set the dark mode option in Total Commander to
"Only when enabled for Windows 10 apps".

Re: dark mode based by hours
There should be a setting that has three options:
* Dark mode
* Light mode
* Listen to OS setting, if OS has such setting
Option 3 is the default for most programs.
Also light mode should not be called Normal, because dark mode is nothing abnormal.

I think that it is what the option at "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Color" -> "Dark mode" -> "Only when enabled for Windows 10 apps" does?* Listen to OS setting, if OS has such setting

Re: dark mode based by hours
Yes, that's exactly the idea of that third option.

Re: dark mode based by hours
Wrong. There is no special light mode in TC. You can call default mode "standard", if you don't like "normal". You can also call it "classic" as some people still use color palettes similar to Norton Commander or DOS Navigator - and they definitely are NOT light.Thany wrote: 2021-06-15, 13:35 UTCAlso light mode should not be called Normal, because dark mode is nothing abnormal.
What is more, by default some colors in TC dark mode are calculated basing on standard mode colors, which is NOT normal. Dark mode is a slave, standard mode is a master in this solution.

Re: dark mode based by hours
It's not called "Light" because it uses the default theme, which may also be a custom dark theme installed by the user.
