Packing and unpacking from the command line?

Post by *Meric »

Sorry if this has been asked before, did some light searching and I didn't find anything on this topic at first glance.

I want to be able to pack and unpack a directory in the command line. The file format requires the use of a third party plugin (which is already installed)

My question is

1. Is there a built in feature for Total Commander to let users pack and unpack directories / files from the command line?
2. If so is support for this on a plugin to plugin basis, or would it work regardless of the file format

Thanks

There is no such feature in TC.
There are enough free command line tools for such a job.
7zip or WinRAR for example.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3374)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1371a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.69
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

Hello, welcome.

TC can provide parameters for file under cursor, for the path and for selected files.
With that and with an command line packer you can create an user defined command,
this command you can use as button, assign keyboard shortcut to, and add an alias (a few chars) to execute it from TCs command line.

For more question just ask (or see my sig)

Of course TC can provide parameters for command line tools
but thats not what was asked for.

Thanks for the quick reply everyone!

Yeah unfortunately the file format doesn't really have many tools out there that support it. It's similar to traditional archive formats but with a few minor changes. I'll try and figure out a way to convert the plugin to be non-dependent on Total Commander if that's possible though.

Thanks!
