Feature request: offset in "Compare by content" binary mode

Post by *Wox »

Hi,

First of all, thanks for great file manager!

Now quickly about my problem: sometimes i need to compare files with some extra bits in front of one of comparable files and i should always trim these bytes with hex editor before compare. It would be nice to have offset input field (decimal, hex or both) in "Compare by content" binary mode.

Thank you

I agree that it would be nice to be able to compare binary files from any locations. Also perhaps support binary gaps. Currently there is a 'resync from here' feature for text files, it would be nice to be able to use it to specify exact bytes to resync from. But I think for such specification TC should allow selecting exact bytes, in such case it should highlight (or border with a frame) corresponding hex/char values for current byte like most hex editors do.
