tc or a free tool to save all my folders(subfolders)and files on a database

Post by *giulia »

hi

can tc save all my folder/subfolders and files (no hashes or checksum) to a database or a file with all the information ?
or is there a nice free full portable program that i could use for it?

the point i would like to save the list of all my folders (with their subfolders ) and files ,so I can detected if some folder/subfolder/files have been deleted or moved

i'm not looking for a security tool , just have the possibility to perform a quickly check loading the "database or a file with all the information" and have a compare or just know the folder deleted by me or moved by me
tc has save selection to.. but it's not what i'm looking for
thanks

Just using DiskDirExtended which comes as a packer plunin, but just creates a list of files.
It creates a structured text file which shows up in TC as a real file list and can be used at "Synchonize Dirs" to see differences.

hi
good , i have tried it , sadly it doesn't support unicode ,some folder had font like ♫ or ☼ , many charaters are not supported
but would be really great , is the only component? maybe is there one with unicode support ? Unicode should support ♫ and french ,italian and german charaters , right?
even i was looking for another program and external program
thanks

There is DiskDirW which supports Unicode.

I got encoding problem with DiskDirW, it save a list which it's readable by texteditor by not when it's opened by TC.
If you don't need to list the file in archive( I can't get it work with 7z any way, I try many times...), you can try CatalogMaker, it basically same as diskdir with unicode support.

I have set the following in DiskDirW.ini

Code: Select all

[diskdirW]
AddBOM=0
The created files are read without problems from TC and used by synchronize dirs.

I wrote a bug report to progman13 yesterday, with this lstW file:

Code: Select all

D:\360极速浏览器下载\
鼠标检测 mousetest.zip	44692	2020.11.07	10:44.56	a

Save it to utf8 with or without BOM. DiskdirW will decode it into gibberish filename: 榧犳爣妫€娴?mousetest.zip

sorry, Chinese has no access to imgur.com at the moment so I can't open it, maybe the timestamp is different... I noticed update note of tools like these tend to mention "more accurate date" frequently, I guess it is not so easy to copy a complete time stamp out of some files.
