plugin exif; strange ApertureValue figures

Post by *Han_ictern »

Configurating my own column lay-out with the wdx-exif plugin I got strange outcome for Aperture Value.
See in this table::
Name________________________FNumber__Apperture_Exposure____Exif_____Shutter___Exposure
______________________________________Value_____Bias_______Version____Speed____TimeFraction
2022-01-10__145654_9190.JPG____8.0______6.0______0.67_______0230______1/256____1/250
2022-01-10__145658_9193.JPG____8.0______6.0______0.67_______0230______1/256____1/250
2022-01-10__145704_9194.JPG____7.1______5.6______0 _________0230______1/395____1/400
2022-01-10__145712_9198.JPG____5.6______5.0_____-0.67_______0230_______1/256___1/250

When I look after the ApertureValues with IrfanView//Image//Information. . .//Exif-info, I find 8.0, 8.0, 7.03 and 5.66 respectively.
These figures are more close to the setting of diaphragma under FNumber. Compare if you like with the differences between Shutterspeed and ExposureTimeFraction.
Does anyone know the clue of this??

Edit: The camera is a Canon 60D

Difficult to say without a test image. Could you take a photo with the lens cover on, and either post it here, or send it to me by e-mail (support at ghisler dot com)? It should be smaller than 2 MB.

I have updated the EXIF plugin now to show the Aperture Value fields with the correct values. The values stored in the files use the APEX format, which need to be converted to F numbers with the following formula:
F.number = 2^(APEX.aperture_value / 2)

I have also added support for the GPS "date" field available in some images, and support for more RAW image types: .ORF, .RAW, .RW2, .ARW, .PEF, .RAF

To use the plugin with these extra file types, remove the plugin via Configuration - Options - Plugins - Content Plugins, then install it again, so the string of supported file types gets updated in wincmd.ini.

The plugin is available via https://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm

Thanks for the new version 2.7!

Just a minor: pluginst.inf still says "version=2.6"

Something seems to have gone wrong - the pluginst.inf is updated, but not the exif.lng file.
