[Closed] TC hang when installing lister

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Post by *nsp »

I have to use lister AKFont 2.8.2to see some font.
When trying to install the plugins from the ZIP the dialog hang and TC never come back to life...
Same issue when trying to change the order.

I'm using TC 10.0 64bit on windows 10 Version 21H2 (OS Build 19044.1466)

The workaround is here:

License #524 (1994)
Danish Total Commander Translator
TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a
TC 3.50b4 on Android 6 & 13
Try: TC Extended Menus | TC Languagebar | TC Dark Help | PHSM-Calendar

Hi Petermad:
I did a search for TC 10 Bug and did not found the reference. You are right about known issue, the workaround is to install it manually. I used TC plugin Manager 2.8 and restarted TC. But currently we do not have a fix.

@GhislerAuthor
It would be great to have the root cause anyway..

[Closed]: TC hang when installing AKFont lister

ghisler(Author) wrote: 2022-01-25, 15:38 UTC I have tried the plugin - the 64-bit version of ListGetDetectString seems to be broken. The function is called only when using the plugin for the first time, to get a detect string from the plugin which tells Lister which file types are supported by the plugin.

To use this plugin with Total Commander 64-bit, you need to:
1. Install the combined 32-bit and 64-bit version of Total Commander
2. Run Total Commander 32-bit
3. Install the plugin from there

Afterwards you can use it also from Total Commander 64-bit because it uses the same detect string as Total Commander 32-bit.
Many thanks for the analysis !
I used plugman also 32bit so the detect string was populated correctly...

A dedicated exe able to manage plugin and report error and preventing hang could also be a great support tool to not crash TC...
