Slow dialogs

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Slow dialogs

Post by *_smeta_ »

When opening dialogs it comes with delay and drawing of the dialog is visibly slow. As seen in attached gif - Ctrl+M is pressed when line gets red. Every type of dialog is slow to open (copy/move, find, etc.)

It may be caused by a virus scanner scanning the wincmd.ini on every access, when TC reads the rename history shown in the comboboxes. Try excluding wincmd.ini from the scan.

Excluded TC directory after that disabled AV completely - no change. Still slow.

Uh, did you try to disable TC's Dark Mode? There's a known issue with it that causes all dialogs to be slow top open: viewtopic.php?t=75913

It seems some other software is causing slowdowns - not antivirus. When I have more info I'll post results here.

To rule out that it is caused by your TC configuration you could try with a clean ini file: "Commands" -> "Run Separate Instance of" -> "Total Commander with Fresh ini Files *..."

There is no "Run Separate Instance of" option in the original TC menu.

When I run with fresh ini - it works as it should. I'll have to dig in a little more when I have time. Thanks!

p.s. Never noticed "Run separate instance of ..." command thanks petermad, your menu should be default :D
