[TC10.50b8] drag and drop not working

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC10.50b8] drag and drop not working

Post by *bynkook »

i have been using TC for about 16 years. I never had serious issue since i am light user working in a office as an engineer.

from yesterday i experienced this issue:

A file in a directory which under many levels and names with korean characters, i am dragging the file to my favorate PDF editor as usual. Not working. I changed TC to Administrator previlage. Same.

I doubt this issue has something to do with Windows 10 os system.

If the total path length is above 259 characters then your PDF editor might not support suchs long paths.

That's indeed the main reason. There may also be some Unicode character in the path (e.g. an Emoji) which the PDF editor cannot handle.

No. It is not something about PDF editor. Usually when we drag something from TC, an arrow appear right next to cursor. In the issue stated above, the arrow mark does not show for a file with a long path.

AFAIK on dragging the source app (TC) provides some info about the file and the drop target (PDF app) decides if it can handle the object.
So it is up to the PDF app to show the arrow.

Drag&Drop does work here also with names longer than 259 characters, at least to programs which support it (e.g. notepad.exe on Windows 11).
