Remove Headings in MRN / Remove columns from MultiRenameTool MRT

Post by *Alonzo Mosley »

Sorry I don't know a better way to describe this / search for a previous answer.

I just got a new PC and am reloading all my software, preferences, etc.

The MRN on the new machine is cluttered when I go to the actual Rename screen. By that I mean, it shows
Old Name | Ext. | New Name | Size | Date | Location

I swear previously I only showed the two "Names".

I know how to change the widths of the fields, but is there a way to remove Size, Date, and Location entirely? (I tried right-clicking on the toolbar...)
Dan: You're gonna need to get someone to fix my computer.
Kim: What's wrong with it?
Dan: It's in several pieces on my floor.

That is a bad idea and there was never any other display.
Think what happens if you use the MRT tool in branch view.
How would you know what file from which sub-dir you are renaming ?

Ok, why this new "mega" feature does not provide also for the overall dialog horizontal scrollbar?
I cannot physically now easily to look at the whole processing line in one glance

P.S. By the way - anything and will it ever be done with the engine of this forum? - so that the standard embedded tags on third-party images are processed and displayed as images, rather than as simple text for the "click-open in another tab, then look there"???

It's not a new feature. You can adjust the widths of these columns yourself, and it will remember them. So if you don't like the other columns, just make the first 3 wider.

no, you don't correctly understood my sentence(((
I wanted to say that IF something was added in order to show something BIGGER that current width/height of current dialog - then is MUST be supplied with scrollbars! I MUST NOT to play with "the widths of these columns"!

I didn't think it was a new feature necessarily, just thought I had it tricked out better previously.

I had them resized, but scroll bars that scroll to useless information just itch the back of my skull raw.

Thanks,

but scroll bars that scroll to
stop-stop-stop. WHERE did you see the scrollbars? I already provide us with screenshot of current situation - which shows exactly opposite case:
now there's nothing so necessary and insanely important like the hor.scroolbar in this dialog.
Again - example: "https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ibm.com%2Fdeveloperworks%2Fcommunity%2Fconnections%2Fresources%2Fweb%2Fcom.ibm.oneui3.styles%2FimageLibrary%2FIcons%2FComponentsGray%2FForumsGray.png"
this is a real filename.
And I have many of such similar files. I want to unmask all %ХХ symbols. Lets select just this one file and see how MRT window will look like:

Column Type(Тип) even does not show its content! Auto-change columns width by double-clicking the left mouse button - as it works in the Excel - it is not present here. WHAT exactly and WHERE exactly the other columns are - nothing can be seen. And just because there are no hor.scroll bars in this dialogue. Did I somewhere very badly correct some program settings variable that these scrollbars you describe (i.e. you have them) - just suddenly they've disappeared on me?

You did nothing wrong. The MRT doesn't have a horizontal scrollbar. My read on Alonzo Mosley's sentence is that he doesn't need scrollbars which scroll to information he has no need for.

That's exactly right. (And it's more even that *seeing* a scrollbar - esp. a horizontal scrollbar - that goes to needless information sets my teeth on edge. Can't explain it!)

Tensions seem to be running really high in so many threads!

Well, I see. That's not how I understood you. And unfortunately I'm only FOR having scroll bars. Since if the information is NOT needed - it can always be hidden - by shifting the columns to zero width. But if the information is there, but it is not visible, and for the most stupid reason - due to the lack of trivial scroll bars - then this simply cannot be fixed.
2ghisler(Author)
And then my question to the developer is still relevant and asks for an answer - why are these scrollbars not present in this dialogue?
