How to preserve directory timestamps when copying from Android to PC

Post by *misvin »

TC 10.0 (64-bit) Configuration (Copy/Delete): Copy date/time of directories option is checked.

It works when both source and target are located on the hard disk.

But when I copy directories from Android phone to PC, only file timestamps are preserved.

Workaround question:
If the source and target panels in TC contain same list of files/directories, can I change date/time for group of files/directories using "Load from file under cursor" feature in the "Change attributes" dialog box?
BTW, I suggest to change "Load from file under cursor" to "Load from file/directory under cursor" because it works for directories too.

Thanks

You can do that in the 'Synchronize directories'.
Compare files and dirs, mark those you want and choose 'Copy file properties' from right click menu. In the options tick 'Timestamp'

You can't synchronize directories on Android phone with PC.
You can if you use the Media Audio 2 plugin to access the phone. < https://plugins.ghisler.com/fsplugins/wpdplug.zip >

Copying from/to Android is done via Explorer virtual folders. It depends on the Windows implementation whether timestamps are being copied or not. On Windows 11, timestamps are copied when copying files from Android to PC, I have just tried it.

I've tried it on windows 10 and using the media player 2 plugin and copied over 1 folder which was dated in april 2022 within android but when copied to C drive desktop folder, all 3 dates were the current date and time, not the original date and time. Can you be specific with your steps. How did you test and verify that you can preserve the directories from android to pc ?

Only the file dates are preserved, not the folder dates. And only the last write time is preserved.

As I wrote, copying from/to Android is done via Explorer virtual folders. TC just sends the system "copy" and "paste" and Windows does the rest. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to preserve folder timestamps this way.
