Renaming extension files in total commander

Post by *tkara »

Hi all,

My name is Tommy and i am new to this forum. I couldn't find any answer for my question so i will write it down here so hopefully someone can help me out.

I have a list of files that i need to change the extension name. The files for example start at .986, .987, .988 all they way to .999. I want all those number to be lowered by 1.

If that is not possible, than the files can also start at 001, 002, 003, 004 etc. I tried this one with the name changing tool (ctrl+M) and i managed to start the number at 001, 002 etc. but at 009 its goes to 0010 instead of 010.

Example 1 of how i would like to get the numbers:

.986 -> .985
.985 -> .984
.984 -> .983

Example 2 that would also work fine:

.986 -> .001
.987 -> .002
...
.996 -> .010
.997 -> .011

I hope I explained my question clearly and sorry for my bad english.

Thanks in adance!

Extensions are consecutive numbers? In this case you can just set counter - [C] in extension field, start at 985 for file already named something.986 step by 1.

If you wish to rename files starting from 001 just set counter in extension field, start at 1, step by 1, 3 digits!

This is what you probably set - http://gral.y0.pl/tc/mrt1.png
And here what you should - http://gral.y0.pl/tc/mrt2.png
