TC <> Windows Explorer: visibility of App Data/Roaming folder ?

Post by *Alonzo Mosley »

In my App Data/Roaming folder, I have a large Microsoft folder.

It appears in Windows Explorer, but not on TC's?

As far as I can tell, it's not hidden.

Kim: What's wrong with it?
Dan: It's in several pieces on my floor.

It has the NTFS "s" flag as you can see in the screenshot:

Random idea: "s" means "System". There is a TC setting to hide System files...? :)

System files are hidden by default too:
Configuration - Options - Display

So if that's snark, that's not helpful, TBH. Felt like it was a pretty straightforward question.

There are two main option entries regarding displaying the hidden/system and files/folders in Windows, and Total Commander behavior here just reflects your system options:

Code: Select all

Folders Options - View tab - Advanced settings:
# Hidden files and folders
[*] Don't show hidden files, folders, and drives // Windows default
[ ] Show hidden files, folders, and drives
...
[v] Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) // Windows default: checked
To override those Windows settings (without touching them in Windows) in Total Commander just add the below button to your toolbar to quickly elaborate on such situations (press it once if you need to see all the hidden and system files/folders and press it another time if you don't; the button is graphical and reflects the state it is in)

Code: Select all

TOTALCMD#BAR#DATA
cm_SwitchHidSys

wcmicon2.dll,79
