Why doesn't the Encrypt option work when I pack files?

Post by *VickyButler »

Hello, I wanted to pack some files with Encrypt option. When I do this, I am still able to double-click on "encrypted" zip files; no password prompt appears, and the content is immediately opened. How can I solve this issue?

If you pack them as ZIP then the filenames are not encrypted, just the content.
Try to view the content and you are prompted for a password.

When you are packing files with Encrypt option upon password confirmation on the second screen you could see a check box "[] Remenber (until program is closed or minimized)"

Uncheck it if you want password access to the content to have an immediate effect.
Otherwise, you need to restart TotalCommander or at least minimize and then maximize it back.
It should work.
