After some investigation I can say that this is a very old bug, it is present in ALL 64 bit versions of TC. I have checked many versions starting with TC 8.00 beta 1 and the error is always there, on 3 different computers with 3 different builds of Windows 10:

Windows 10 Home 1803 - 17143.407
Windows 10 Pro 2004 - 19041.329 (on the same machine, bug does not occurs on Windows 7 Pro)
Windows 10 Pro 21H2 - 19044.2006

I didn't notice it before as I only enabled Explorer delete recently after the release of the first beta of TC 11.

It seems it occurs only on Windows 10
I didn't try so far Windows 8.1 and Windows 11 - maybe soon.
Personally, I'm not interested in this bug, because I only occasionally used the explorer delete - it does not meet my expectations for other reasons.

I was able to reproduce it now on Windows 10, but only when deleting took a long time and a progress dialog were shown. I will try to wait until the dialog is gone in the next beta.

Yes, this dialog window was mentioned earlier by Hacker and me as necessary condition

This bug and all conditions are not so easy to catch so I didn't notice everything from the beginning.

Gral,
As mentioned before, to me the Explorer Delete window is not a necessary condition, i.e. the bug appeared also when using internal TC delete function.

Ok, i forget part of this - viewtopic.php?p=431694#p431694

I never used the delete method from explorer before May 2023 and never noticed the cursor disappearing. After enabling explorer delete, I noticed an bug after two days of use, so even if the bug occurs also with internal TC deletion, it is certainly much easier to notice when using explorer delete method.

Are you able to achieve 100% repeatability when using internal TC delete?

I can reproduce the problem quite reliably now on windows 10 with the Explorer delete function, but I cannot reproduce it at all with the internal function.

Gral, Christian,
No, I am not able to reproduce it without the Explorer Delete dialog, I just know it sometimes happens.

I only fixed the problem with Explorer delete: It was quite difficult because the delete progress window doesn't cause a WM_ACTIVATE message when TC gets the focus back. Therefore I have to use a function which looks for all windows in the Total Commander process, and wait for up to 2 seconds until the extra window disappears. If I refresh immediately when the function returns, the cursor/caret placement fails.
