Alt+Shift+Enter - only for selected folders

Post by *monarch-lfv »

When counting the size of folders, I want to skip some that have a large file and folder structure or symlinks. Alt+Shift+Enter counts all folders in panel. Is it possible to make a count of only selected folders?

Same question discussion - https://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=75883

Note that with "Everything" size counting is really fast and symlinks can be ignored

You can enable "Options" -> "Operation" -> "Calculate space occupied by subdirectories" -> "when selecting with space bar" - that will only count space for selected folders, as you select them.

If you want the cursor to jump to the next file when selecting with space bar (as selecting with Ins does), then put this parameter in the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini file:

Code: Select all

SpaceMovesDown=1
License #524 (1994)
Danish Total Commander Translator
TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a
TC 3.50 on Android 6 & 13
Try: TC Extended Menus | TC Languagebar | TC Dark Help | PHSM-Calendar

It is inconvenient that other folders are not shown.
What about network drives that are not included in the index Everything?

It is inconvenient that dozens of folders will have to be allocated with a space.
I usually select everything with the "*" button and unselect the unnecessary ones with a space or Insert.

Thanks anyway.

I'm just trying to find some workaround using already existing functions. I think it's reasonable suggestion to allow such counting - only for selected files

As already suggested by Gral, the tool "Everything" can be used for real-time queries in Total Commander.
Folder sizes, e.g. in C:\Windows\WinSxS\ are displayed <3 seconds.

Before you start thinking about which folders you want to exclude, you already have the result.

Folder Indexing can be the solution here.

I know it.
Total Commander is portable on a flash drive, each time different directories on different computers and networks. Unfortunately Everything won't help in this case.
