Auto-renaming copying is interrupted on one of the selected folders

Post by *Fla$her »

1. Create 200 folders by running from the command line: %ComSpec% /q/c for /l %i in (1,1,200) do md test\%i
2. Open test\, sort by name and press Ctrl+A.
3. Place the cursor on the file in another panel and run cm_Copy /AGO5 twice from the command line.

As we can see, auto-naming stops working on one of the folders, and a rewrite dialog appears.
If you click Skip, the dialog will appear sequentially for each subsequent folder.
If you manually select the same auto-naming option again, the interruption will occur after a certain number of folders.

Sorry, you can't currently use auto-rename with two operations at the same time with the same data, this will inevitably lead to collisions.

The command is executed twice, of course, waiting for the first one to complete.
I tested on a small file, so there was enough of a second.

I do not get any problems when I run the commands one after another. After the two operations, each directory contains two files:
filename.ext
and
filename (2).ext

Tested on Windows 11 with TC 32-bit and TC 64-bit beta 7.

Testing on XP SP3. Interrupts can start with different numbers, and with repeated manual selections of the menu item "Auto-rename copied", the gap is more often 21, but not always. A couple of examples:
57, 78, 99, 122, 143, 164, 192
65, 86, 107, 128, 149, 170, 191

Sorry, cannot reproduce. Maybe some third party tool is interfering.

This is out of the question.
I understood. There must be at least one point in the target path:
D:\bla.bla\test\
D:\blabla\te.st\
D:\blabla\te..st\
D:\bla..bla\te..st\

It makes no difference here. Tried with te.st as the parent of the 200 dirs, and tried 10.a as one of the 200 dirs.

It turned out that the absence of a dot does not always help...

I have tried it now on Windows XP (10 times!), but never got any overwrite confirmations, neither with TC 32-bit nor 64-bit.

Are you using any third party antivirus?

No. Antiviruses are not used.

Maybe you could use a tool like Filemon to find out what is causing the errors?

I could. But what exactly should I see there? And what filter should I set?
See also the screencast showing the list of processes.

I confirm the bug. Observed from 11.00b1. In both x32 and x64. Checked by standard copying (F5) with the choice of a rewriting option, for example "5. Auto-rename copied" or "2. Overwrite all".
